Calum C Lyon, FRCP, is a Dermatologist at York Foundation Hospital Trust and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom.

Amanda Smith is a Stoma Specialist Nurse at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. She was The British Journal of Nursing Nurse of the Year in 2001.

In 1997 they began a research project to examine and identify peristomal skin problems. The results have been widely published in nursing and medical journals and at local, national and international conferences. The team went on to achieve a quality award for best service improvement.
