Currently the David T. Uehling Professor and Chairman of the Division of Urology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He holds joint appointments in the Departments of Medicine (Medical stone unit), Radiology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Nakada is an internationally recognized expert in minimally invasive surgery of the kidney, including laparoscopy. Dr. Nakada’s practice focuses primarily on the surgical and medical management of kidney stones and urologic laparoscopy. In 1996, he co-established the first Metabolic Stone Unit in Madison. In 1997, he reported the first hand-assisted laparoscopic radical nephrectomy in the United States using a sleeve.
Currently Professor of Urology with joint appointments in the Departments of Urology and Mineral Metabolism and holder of the Ralph C. Smith Distinguished Chair in Urologic Education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Her research interests include evaluation of dietary and medical therapies for kidney stone prevention, assessment of outcomes for minimally invasive surgical treatments, development and assessment of resident teaching tools and cost analysis of treatment strategies. Dr. Pearle is a member of the AUA Nephrolithiasis Clinical Guidelines Panel for Staghorn Calculi and Ureteral Calculi and serves as a consultant for the AUA/ABU Board Exam Committee. In addition, she serves on the Editorial Boards of several peer-reviewed journals and reviews extensively for many Urological journals. In 2003, she received the Gold Cystoscope award from the American Urological Association, and is an active member of the esteemed American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons.
